The California Hemp Council (CHC) was established to expand and protect the in-state farming, manufacturing and use of hemp.  The sole purpose of the CHC will be to focus on legislative and regulatory issues impacting the California hemp industry and its related products.

The CHC will be overseen by a board of industry entrepreneurs and experts and staffed by a full time Sacramento advocacy firm and legal counsel.  Politico Group and the Hoban law firm have been selected to provide these services. Politico Group was established in 1973 and is a public affairs, legislative advocacy and consulting firm. The firm is composed of three registered legislative advocates, each with decades of broad legislative and regulatory experience.  The firm believes in the many benefits that industrial hemp can provide to the economy, environment and people of California and successfully navigated SB 1409 into law this past legislative session.  Politico Group worked with the Hoban Law Group, particularly Patrick Goggin, to provide legal support throughout the 2018 legislative session. Mr. Goggin, on behalf of Vote Hemp, has served as the primary legal support on hemp bills in California dating back to 2005.
